Wood Ducks!

 Fall is the courtship season for wood ducks!  Flaring their wings, tipping their heads back, and swiftly swimming in front of females, males put their striking plumage on display.  Pairs will migrate to breeding grounds in early Spring and find nest-sites close to water in tree cavities, created by woodpeckers or wood rot.  Females will sometimes raise two broods a year, with around 10 eggs per clutch.
